We began our awesome field trip by taking an unexpected ride on the Missoula Carousel. After having a snack we went to the SpectrUM Discovery Center and had awesome experiences with our five senses. Check out the cool pics. We had such a great time. When we got back to school we did some yoga before Ms. Myers came to our room for specials. It was a great day in kindergarten!

Sister, the neighborhood cat, paid us a visit during Writer's Workshop today. We taught her a few things before sending her back outside. The kiddos explained to her that while writing their seesaw books they were going to be sure to put spaces between their words, write their popcorn words correctly, stretch out the words they don't know and stay focused. Mrs. Welker's 2nd grade class invited us to their room to hear their Folktales. Their stories were amazing. Our kinder kiddos were great listeners and enjoyed their time with the big kids! The Lewis and Clark kitchen staff introduced the new salad bar to our kiddos. They had so many healthy Go foods to choose from. Check out Catlyn's healthy choices she made. Way to go Catlyn! Our visit to the fire house was a great success. We learned about the gear used to fight fire and fire safety rules. We also learned that it is very crucial that we know our addresses so that if we make a 911 call from a cell phone in our homes we are able to tell the operator our address. We asked how many fires they fight in a day and we were super surprised by the answer... 0. They fight about one fire per month! They were appreciative of our fresh bread we made them and the fruit basket our friends in Ms. Cooper's gave them. Oh... And they even got a call while we were there. We had to exit the fire house and we watched them load up and drive away. It was the highlight of our trip! Since we have been studying abstract art I have some of my kiddos really taking this genre of art to heart. Here are a couple of pics from my abstract artists. We made our May calendars today. Since it was Dashel's birthday he got to pick the type of music we listened to while we worked. He chose rock and roll! It is always fun to watch my kinder kiddos move and grove and sing while they work! Today we had a special visit from two great Grizzlies coaches. Coach Tinkle, head basketball coach, and Coach Ty, football defense coach, came to talk to us about their important role in our community. What we learned is that not only do these coaches teach their students how to be good at their game but to be good teammates, exhibit teamwork, and to be gentlemen off the field or court. These coaches also get their players out into the Missoula community. The players help at the food bank and visit retirement homes. We had a great time with the coaches. Our kinder kiddos were captivated and had many burning questions as well as stories of their own to share. Thank you Mr. Vallance for setting this visit up! |
