Ms. Meyers taught the kiddos a new relaxation technique called Spaghetti. First you tense up all your muscles like hard, uncooked spaghetti noodles. Like this... Then relax your entire body as if you were cooked spaghetti noodles. Like this...

The Great Ball Game was the story read by Ahka today. The birds and the animals had a disagreement. Did they fight to solve the problem? Goodness no! They played a ball game to solve their problem. What a peaceful solution. It was a great day of Halloween fun. Check out all of my cutie pie kindy babes in their costumes. They "owned" their character and posed for the camera! Keep reading on and check out what we did throughout the day. It was a mellow day of celebrating! We began the day with Movement class in the gym where we moved around as different Halloween creatures. When we got back to class we read the story, Ten Timid Ghosts. A story about a witch that moves into a house full of ghosts and scares them out one by one. The last timid ghost isn't so timid and bands together with the other scaredy ghosts in the woods. They make a plan to scare the witch out of THEIR house. After reading we performed the story in a reader's theater setting. We learned how to act out the story and how to stop the story when the director says "scene". When "scene" is called we shake off the character we are playing and get back into our kindergarten role. The picture below is a bit blurry but it shows the ten ghosts scaring away the witch out of their house. Who says you can't yell "BOO" inside the classroom at the top of your lungs? Then after recess we went to library and listened to a Halloween story before checking out another book to take home for the week. Once we got back to the room we played Halloween Charades, then got ready for lunch. After lunch we changed into our costumes. Our police officer started arresting those who wanted to be arrested as we waited for others to get into their costumes. Once everyone was changed and into character we began learning centers. The picture below is of the center where we played, "Pin the Boo on the ghost." It was an exciting center. They were so honest, no one was peeking. We played Halloween Bingo at another center, using the buttons from the other day as place markers. At another center we made a thumb print pattern on a wood block to create picture frames. And since it was gym day we had the opportunity to explore the iPads at the fourth center. After learning centers our big buddies came in and we made Halloween inspired book marks. Then we went out together and enjoyed recess on the beautiful, sunny afternoon. We ended our day with a delicious feast of zucchini bread, grapes, "boo-nana pops", and jack-0-lantern oranges. Thanks to all that donated such healthy options for our Halloween celebration. Then we headed to gym class before calling it a day.
